My bikepacking rig

Here she is in her full glory, on the last day of my recent La Vélodyssée trip - one of those rare days she is not covered with previous day laundry:

Bike

  • 2019 Rose Pro Cross Gravel running 2×11 with 48-31t up front and 11-34t in the rear. The frame was supposed to be orange, but someone has snagged the very last one from just under my nose, right when Rose has decided to stop making them anymore.
  • Schwalbe G-ONE Allround Evo tires, 38C front and 45C back. Perfectly rolling on asphalt, gravel and forest paths, less capable in the mud, but hey, guess you can't have all in one package?
  • Redshift Quick-Release aerobars, ShockStop Suspension stem and seatpost. For that extra cushy ride.
  • Selle Italia Novus Boost Superflow saddle. Got back to stock saddle that came with the bike after my usual ISM PN 3.1 40 combined with Castelli Free Aero Race 4 bibs gave me nasty sores during my first bikepacking trip - not sure which one was to blame, but switching to the stock saddle and Rapha bibs on the second trip made everythng perfectly fine again.
  • Water bottle cages mounted to the Woho XTouring Anti Sway bracket. Fantastic little gizmo adding extra bottle mounts behind the saddle (a bit triathlon-style), making place for the full frame bag, and additionally keeping the saddle bag in place during sharper turns and while dancing on the pedals.

Top tube pack carries everything that should be easily accessible - ultralight wallet, mask, hand sanitizer, baby wipes, mini chamois cream, mini GorillaPod etc.

Saddle bag carries all the clothes.

One fork bag carries all cooking stuff (including some food), the other basic first aid kit, cosmetics, microfibre towel, Deet and Permethrine (if needed).

Frame bag is for everything else - spare tubes, battery pack, rest of the food etc.
