Training camp in Ardèche

No rest for the wicked! These holidays were like a small training camp: daily cycling, running or swimming, both for me and the Beast. Only our "coach" seemed to take it easy and appeared pretty relaxed.

As almost every year, May brought short(ish) holidays in a small sleepy village of Saint-Martin-d'Ardèche, at the east end of breathtakingly beautiful Gorges de l'Ardèche.

This year, contrary to our usual agenda, there was no kayaking - there was simply no time for that. No caving either, even though we had it initially planned.

Instead, I did a lot of cycling (including the summit of Mont Ventoux - unfortunately only one, aborting planned Club des Cinglés challenge, as my lower back denied such an effort this time)...

and quite a bit of running (including the Trail des Gorges de l'Ardèche).

My Strava never looked so busy after any 2-week holiday before!

Exercising the Beast

Rocco had its share of training as well.

Not a training.

After getting tired very quickly in the Parisian heat over the last month or so, swimming in a cool Ardèche river worked wonders and helped a lot with high level of activity, which principally included frantic swimming (and diving for stones)...

followed by posing for photos (but really just waiting for more attractions)...

followed by digging (cardio!)...

followed by more swimming...

followed by more digging...

with occassional dinner on the road eaten out of the car trunk...

until finally falling dead asleep (dog-tired!) back home in the evening.
