No surfing in Lacanau Océan

What was supposed to be a surfing holiday, turned into fest of eating and drinking, and lots of fun with Rocco.

As our tradition has it, we stayed at Residence Bleu Marine Pierre et Vacances, just next to the beach.

Went there to relax and surf, but surf conditions this year were just pitiful, as demonstrated by Lacanau Ocean Surf Forecast and Surf Report:

Wannabe surfers were either hanging around on their boards in almost completely flat ocean, looking for waves that were just not there, playing guitar on the promenade, trying their skills in ping-pong, or learning how to ride a skateboard.

Only the surfing schools were out in the sea each day, without much success though.

Instead, we have been stuffing our mouths with delicious local food and wine, both in restaurants...

As well as takeaways from local producers...

Admired local street art (lots of Mimil by David Selor)...

Rented bikes and went for a ride through Forêt des Landes to Le Porge Océan...

Finishing, as one should, with energy drinks on the beach at Sunset Café...

Tried walking on the beach, but it was just too busy, too crowded, too loud.

Had lots of fun instead with our furry beast - in the ocean...

In the forest...

In the lake...

And in the ocean again.

And just look at those sunsets!

Never mind the surfing - it was still fantastic!

See you again next year Lacanau Océan!
